Signdance Collective International (SDCI) is an Award Winning international touring performance company, whose creative directors David Bower and Isolte Avila began creating and developing Signdance Theatre in 1987. SDCI exists to develop creatively brilliant, innovative performances working with an inclusive and diverse ensemble . The Company develops dance theatre work on all scales which is moving, comic, spectacular, and engaging. Born in the margins of society, the integrity of their practice has won much claim and praise over three decades. SDCI promotes equality, sustainability and creativity through performances and workshops that mix sign dance, live music, poetry, and sign theatre. It is led and managed by a d/Deaf and Disabled artistic -team, working with d/Deaf Disabled and Non-Disabled Artists across the Globe; mixing art forms to create innovative and creatively brilliant performances. The Company is based at Buckinghamshire New University and in Amsterdam on a 17 foot Barge.
